DB9 Serial Connector
From Open Circuits
Description:
DB9 serial connector. See the PG31 GPS RS232 Dev Board for more info, schematics, etc. Most embedded boards will have a Female connector on board because computers have a Male connector for the serial port. There is a prevalence of M/F extension cables. Null modem cables (usually M/M any way) will not work.
The name "DB9" is actually a misnomer. Its real name is "DE9", but everyone calls it DB9 anyway. (There was a series of D- connectors, DA through DE, but only DB25 and DE9 are still in common use.)
